1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Sakina ("Sakina", "we", "us", or "our") that governs your access to and use of the Sakina mobile application and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, installing, or using Sakina, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use Sakina. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, you may use Sakina only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using Sakina, you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Your account
When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at ibrahim.ahmed1564@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized access. You may delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Delete account).
4. Sakina Premium subscription
Sakina offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions ("Sakina Premium") that unlock expanded features. Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and are governed by the terms below as well as the App Store or Play Store terms you accepted at purchase.
4.1 Plans and pricing
Current plans (for example, weekly or annual) and their prices are shown in the app's paywall before purchase. Prices are displayed in your local currency where available and may change. Any price change will not affect an active billing period.
4.2 Billing, renewal, and cancellation
- Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
- The renewal charge is applied to the payment method on file with Apple or Google within 24 hours of the period ending.
- You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time in the App Store or Play Store subscription settings on your device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.
- Deleting the Sakina app does not cancel your subscription. You must cancel through the Apple or Google subscription settings.
4.3 Free trials
We may offer a free trial at the start of a subscription. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will automatically be charged the full subscription price. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
4.4 Refunds
All subscription charges are processed by Apple or Google, not Sakina. Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play, in accordance with their refund policies. We are not able to issue refunds directly for App Store or Play Store purchases.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or interfere with the operation of the app.
- Access the Service using automated means, scrape content, or attempt to overload the backend.
- Circumvent subscription gates, token gates, or other paid-feature restrictions.
- Upload or submit content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, obscene, or that infringes another person's rights.
- Submit content that attempts to manipulate or prompt-inject our AI features.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity.
- Use the Service in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it for other users.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of the reflections, duas, journal entries, and other content you create in Sakina ("Your Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to you (for example, to show your saved journal entries back to you across devices, or to route a reflection prompt to the AI provider to generate a response).
Some inputs are subject to reasonable limits to keep the Service reliable. Free-text fields on onboarding questions and similar inputs are capped at 280 characters and trimmed before being stored. See our Privacy Policy for the full list of fields we store and how they are used.
You are responsible for Your Content and represent that you have all rights necessary to submit it. We may remove content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms.
7. Intellectual property
The Sakina app, its design, code, graphics, the Sakina name and logo, and the curated content it presents (including the 99 Names dataset, verses, and reference duas) are owned by Sakina or licensed to us. Except for the limited rights expressly granted to you in these Terms, we reserve all rights. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works of any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
8. Islamic content and scholarly notice
Sakina presents the 99 Names of Allah, Quranic verses, and authentic supplications drawn from a pre-verified scholarly dataset. The app is intended for personal reflection and spiritual wellness, not as a substitute for personal scholarly guidance or fatwa. Where an individual situation requires scholarly ruling, you should consult a qualified scholar. Sakina is not responsible for any interpretation you derive from the content presented in the app.
9. AI-generated content
The Reflect and Build-a-Dua features use a third-party large-language-model provider (see our Privacy Policy) to generate responses to your prompts. AI-generated output is produced by a probabilistic model and may contain errors or inaccuracies. AI-generated duas are composed in the style of authentic supplications but are not themselves scripture, hadith, or scholarly ruling. Always exercise discernment and, where spiritual precision matters, refer to authenticated sources.
We do not warrant that AI-generated content is accurate, appropriate, or suitable for any particular purpose.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE.
Sakina is not a substitute for professional mental-health, medical, religious, or legal advice. If you are in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or local emergency services.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL SAKINA, ITS AFFILIATES, OR ITS LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID SAKINA IN THE TWELVE MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sakina, its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your violation of any law or of the rights of a third party, or (c) content you submit to the Service.
13. Termination
You may stop using Sakina at any time and delete your account from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or engaged in conduct that may harm the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, and 14) will survive.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or the United Kingdom, this section does not deprive you of the protection granted to you by mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you reside.
15. Changes to these terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms at this URL and update the "Effective date" at the top. For material changes that affect your rights, we will provide reasonable advance notice through the app or by email. Your continued use of Sakina after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
